Peaceful Huttonville is among one of the smallest neighbourhoods in Brampton, located near the intersection of Queen Street and Mississauga Road. Huttonville real estate listings feature detached homes ranging from bungalows to spacious multi-level residences. Huttonville homes for sale are situated on shady streets lined with green lawns and plenty of good-sized trees. The neighbourhood is bounded by the Credit River and the rural area of Northwest Brampton. Huttonville real estate provides a quiet, relaxing alternative to city life without sacrificing convenience.
Larger multi-level Huttonville real estate listings from the 1970s and later can be found on cul-de-sacs and along streets such as Ostrander Boulevard, while smaller residences and bungalows with sprawling yards are located along River Road.
The Huttonville area was once a small settlement known as The Wolf’s Den, named for the wolves that lived in the surrounding woods. These wolves made life in the area for early settlers very dangerous to both humans and livestock, and the settlers were careful to stay inside after dark. The government offered bounties for wolf pelts.
The small town received its permanent name from a man named James Hutton, who purchased the area’s mills in 1855. The little town had its own post office, gristmill, volunteer fire station, church, and other amenities. Some of Huttonville’s historical buildings, such as farmhouses and a mill, still remain in the area, but most have long since made way for modern housing developments.
Because Huttonville is located along Mississauga Road, other Brampton neighbourhoods are easily accessible, making it a great neighbourhood to reside in. For commuters, Toronto is only forty-five minutes away via the Gardiner Expressway. The Mount Pleasant GO Station is also just moments away.
Located less than ten minutes down Queen Street is the Brampton downtown shopping district. This picturesque historical area offers well over three hundred shops and restaurants, as well as a theatre district on Main Street.
Huttonville residents have easy access to schools such as the Huttonville Public School, located only a few minutes away (2322 Embleton Road).
One of Brampton’s largest parks, the historic Eldorado Park, is just steps away from Brampton homes for sale. It is a popular destination for fishing, strolling the banks of the Credit River, and picnicking. Also located in Eldorado Park is a public outdoor swimming pool.
For golfers, the Lionhead Golf and Country Club is also located nearby (8525 Mississauga Road). This club is home to two championship courses, one of which, the Legends course, was rated the third toughest in North America by Golf Digest.
